Koleman Karleski

Koleman Karleski joined Chrysalis in 1997 and is currently Managing Director. His focus is on investment opportunities in healthcare and emerging trends and technologies. At Chrysalis, Mr. Karleski has worked with HealthMedia (sold to Johnson & Johnson), Aperture Credentialing (sold to subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group), and TechRepublic (sold to Gartner Group, Inc.) He currently serves on the Board of AfterBOT, Cervilenz, Chronicity, ConnectivHealth, Foundation Radiology Group, and MedServe. He also spearheads Chrysalis’ fundraising efforts.
Prior to working with Chrysalis, Mr. Karleski worked for Providian Corporation’s Capital Management business unit, where he focused on strategic planning and business development. A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Karleski earned a BSE from Princeton University, where he concentrated on operations research and financial engineering.
Chris McFadden, CFA

Chris McFadden is responsible for all aspects of investment and portfolio management activities in the Growth and Buyout Fund at Health Evolution Partners. He has over twelve years of health care industry experience as a research analyst and investor.
Mr. McFadden joined Health Evolution partners from Goldman Sachs & Co. Mr. McFadden joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 as a vice president and was named managing director in 2004.
He most recently directed debt and equity investments for in private and public North American-based healthcare companies as part of Goldman Sachs’ Americas Special Situations Group. From 1999 to 2007, Mr. McFadden was a senior equity analyst responsible for Goldman Sachs’ US healthcare services research coverage and served as a member of the Global Investment Research Sounding Board.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. McFadden worked as a senior research analyst at Wheat First Securities, now Wachovia Securities. Prior to that, he held marketing and management positions at Xerox Corporation.
Mr. McFadden earned a BA in political science from the University of Richmond and studied graduate economics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. McFadden became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1999. Mr. McFadden serves as a member of the board of trustees of Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He founded and leads RAMP, a mentor program for undergraduate students and is the past chairman of the advisory board for the Philip Coltoff Center of the Children’s Aid Society. He is also a fellow for the Health Care Solutions Group of Nashville.
John C. Prior
Mr. Prior has over 30 years of experience in the health care services industry. From 1987 to 2008, Mr. Prior worked in various capacities at Critical Care Systems, formerly Curative Health Services, Inc., including Chief Operating Officer of its home infusion business and President of the company’s wound care management business. Mr. Prior was a Director of the company from November 2000 to June 2006 and was the founding Chief Financial Officer of the company, a position he held for 13 years. Critical Care Systems was acquired by Accredo Health Group, a Medco Health Solutions subsidiary, in November 2007. Prior to his tenure at Critical Care Systems, he held various positions up to Senior Manager in the NYC Health Care Group of KPMG.
Mr. Prior is a certified public accountant and a member of the AICPA. He is the Director of Chronicity, Inc., a health care services company, and Graphic Surgery LLC, a surgery benefits management company.
Dr. Christopher Olivia
Dr. Christopher Olivia is the current President and CEO of West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS).
Prior to his current role at WPAHS, Dr. Olivia served as President and CEO for the Cooper Health System (CHS) in Camden, NJ, where he led the organization, which was previously on the verge of bankruptcy, to significant financial growth. Under Dr. Olivia’s stewardship, CHS rose to the No. 1 ranking in market shares among hospitals in the southern areas of New Jersey, experienced a doubling of revenue and achieved record profitability.
Dr. Olivia previously held the positions of Senior Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Mercy Health Partners in Springfield, OH and President/CEO of University Physicians, an integrated physician structure of more than 400 clinicians based in New Jersey.
Dr. Olivia earned his undergraduate degree at the Pennsylvania State University and his medical degree with honors and academic distinction from Hahnemann Medical School. He served his internship at Columbia University’s Morristown Memorial Hospital Program, where he received the distinction of Intern of the Year. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Olivia also earned an M.B.A from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Olivia completed his residency in opthalmology at The University of Buffalo, State University of New York. He later joined a private practice and served as a physician manager in a group practice in Buffalo, New York. He has continued to practice medicine throughout his career.
Tom Skelton

Tom Skelton is the Chief Executive Officer at Foundation Radiology Group, and holds over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
Most recently, Mr. Skelton worked for MED3000, a national provider of healthcare management and technology services. As President of Technology Services, his focus was to improve operational efficiency while driving sales growth. MED3000 currently has over 1,700 employees in 14 operating centers across the US. Prior to his work with MED3000, Mr. Skelton was the Founder and CEO of Confluence Medical Systems, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Confluence Medical Systems was created to help accelerate the effective use of information technology in healthcare.
Mr. Skelton has extensive leadership experience in the field of healthcare and information technology, having also held “C-level” positions at MISYS Healthcare Systems, a global, $560m+ organization and Medic Computer Systems, where he led a team of over 750 people.
A Pittsburgh native, Mr. Skelton graduated from Robert Morris University, earning a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Computer Information Systems. He is a Corporate Board Member of a U.K.-based publicly traded global software enterprise.
Dr. Brandon Chan

Under Dr. Chan’s direction, in its first year, the company tripled its number of employees, added 12 new hospital contracts, doubled revenue and was named one of the 50 largest radiology groups in the country. Dr. Chan led FRG through another year of significant growth in 2009, moving to the company up to the 23rd largest radiology group in the country, and the tenth largest when measured by procedure volume. In 2009, Dr. Chan was a finalist for the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s CEO of the Year award, where FRG was also a finalist for the Rising Star award.
Previously, Dr. Chan served as the Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging for Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC), a 400-bed hospital in south Pittsburgh. While at JRMC, Dr. Chan led the 19th national installation of Siemens Syngo/COSMOS PACS. JRMC was the first hospital system in the nation to install Siemens Dynamics/KinetDX solution. In addition to the technology advancements he led at JRMC, Dr. Chan also helped to grow the number of yearly exams by 44%, decreased turnaround times from 80-100 hours down to less than 24 hours for reports, and decreased the total percentage of lost/unread films from upwards of 10 percent to less than one percent. Dr. Chan was a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Peripheral Vascular Committee (Chairman), PACS/RIS Committee, and the Institutional Peer Review Committee.
Prior to his time with JRMC, Dr. Chan held the position of Medical Director for the Department of Radiology at Methodist Hospital, the flagship hospital of Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis, IN, and one of the 50 largest hospitals in the US. As Medical Director and Co-Chair of Radiology of Clarian Health, Dr. Chan taught 64 residents radiology procedures, managed 24 subspecialty radiologists, was responsible for over 350,000 yearly exams, and was responsible for a $14 million dollar capital budget. Dr. Chan co-managed 125 technical staff and a $40 million radiology operational budget for Methodist Hospital. Under Dr. Chan’s leadership, the radiology department generated $28 million in professional billings and $125 million in technical billings. While at Methodist Hospital, Dr. Chan led the deployment of the largest GE PACS system installation in the northern hemisphere, and also, the first US installation of the IDXrad 10.2/10.3 radiology information system. Dr. Chan was also a champion for institutional PowerScribe rollout, saving the hospital $5M/yr.
Dr. Chan holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, in the Department of Medicine, and his residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, in the Department of Radiological Sciences and Radiology.
Dr. Chan started his career as a radiologist at Section Head Body Imaging, which staffed the HCA Lewis Gale Hospital in Roanoke, VA. He went on to become the CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for HealthCite, a start up funded by Amgen with $10M, in Baltimore, MD, where he helped to cofound the company, developed the business vision and opportunities, marketing strategy and sales channels for the organization.
Dr. Derek Armfield

Dr. Derek Armfield is co-founder of FRG and serves as Vice Chairman, providing critical strategic development and executive leadership. Dr. Armfield is a fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologist with administrative and entrepreneurial experience. He is Chairman of Radiology at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and its associated imaging centers where he oversees operations for over 100 hospital radiology employees providing nearly 175,000 exams a year. He serves on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee and Peer Review Committee and works closely with administration for strategic planning. Previously Dr. Armfield worked closely with radiology administration at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and participated in clinical and technological deployment for the acquisition of 4 hospital based radiology departments within the UPMC system, a multibillion dollar organization with radiology generated revenues in excess of $500M a year.
Dr. Armfield is a highly regarded clinician and scientific researcher, winning several research awards including the prestigious research award from the Society of Skeletal Radiology in 2003. He is an expert in musculoskeletal radiology, as related to imaging of hip disorders, and has created over 50 presentations, papers, and book chapters. He is an advisor to several radiology journals including Radiographics and American Journal of Roentgenology, functioning as scientific reviewer and conference moderator. He has successfully participated in the care of hundreds of elite and professional athletes from all over the world. He received his MD degree and radiology training from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Medical Center.
He is a graduate of Stanford University holding a BS in Chemical Engineering and MS degree in Engineering Management, where he was awarded a fellowship in the Industrial Engineering Department. As part of his training at Stanford University, Dr. Armfield worked closely with executives and key personnel at established Silicon Valley companies and start ups including Silicon Graphics and Apple Computer.
Dr. Armfield was previously an associated Director of operations of Penn Vascular Lab/Vascusonics, a multi-state mobile radiology service provider with over 100 employees. He was also founder of SurfNow Communications a local public internet access service provider in the Pittsburgh region in 1999. Dr. Armfield is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including participant in the Kodak Radiology Management Program 2005, AUR/Philips Faculty Development Program 2003, Western PA Medical Student Scholarship 1993, and a Kiawanis Club Junior Citizen of the Year in 1988.
